The HK Electric Clean Energy Fund was established in February 2006 to commemorate the commissioning of Lamma Winds and to encourage initiatives in promoting better understanding and application of renewable energy in Hong Kong.
Since its inception, the HK Electric Clean Energy Fund sponsored 43 local schools and tertiary institutes with a total funding of over HK$4 million to implement various projects, including the installation of a meteorological station, a sky garden, a green gallery powered by solar energy, wind turbine, wave energy collector and production of a renewable energy teaching kit. The scope of the projects range from the study and application of solar, wind and hydro power to wave energy.
