Corporate Philanthropy - Donations and Sponsorships
Every year, HK Electric donates to numerous charitable and non-profit-making organisations and sponsors a full array of meaningful projects to benefit the community and people from all walks of life. These include programmes in support of charity, education, disaster relief, community well-being and environmental protection, etc.
On top of making corporate donations, the Company also encourages its staff to donate for charity through supporting fund-raising schemes such as the Community Chest’s Employee Contribution Programme, Skip Lunch Day, Dress Casual Day, etc.
HK Electric Centenary Trust
The HK Electric Centenary Trust provides financial support to secondary school students and elderly services. Since its establishment in 1990 to commemorate the Company’s 100th year of service in Hong Kong, the Trust has been giving out scholarships via the Government’s Student Financial Assistance Agency to secondary school students with outstanding academic performance and in need of financial aids.
The Trust also provides funding to projects in benefit of the elderly every year. Since 2006, the funding has been used for supporting the U3A programme to encourage retirees to pursue life-long learning and volunteerism.
Lamma Trust
Lamma Trust was established to improve the environment and other facilities on Lamma Island where our Lamma Power Station and Lamma Winds, Hong Kong’s first and only wind power station, are situated.
