Smart Power Campaign
The Hongkong Electric Company Limited (HEC) launched Smart Power Campaign to promote energy conservation amongst the younger generation. This year, a series of educational activities have been tailor-made for primary schoolchildren to drive home messages on energy saving and care for the environment.
Schoolchildren are invited to become "PowerSmart Kids" by learning and practising the smart use of electricity at an early age. They are also encouraged to be mindful of the environment.
Through participation in radio shows and fun days, schoolchildren will have a chance to be admitted to "Smart Power School" set up to provide them with further learning opportunities through various kinds of programmes.
"The Lost Future - An Energy Searching Journey"
Through a joint exploration with three lovely characters in the book, children will be taught, through examples relating to their daily lives, about the importance of electricity and the need for energy conservation.
Schoolchildren are encouraged to share their ideas on energy saving by painting on specially designed green cards. These cards will then be sent to children overseas.
Radio Programme
In a joint effort with HEC, Metro Radio will air "Smart Power Tips" in different radio programmes to spread energy efficiency messages. "PowerSmart Kids" will be selected in radio games to take part in other Smart Power activities.
Smart Power Ambassador
A team of Smart Power Ambassadors formed by members of the HEC's professional engineering team pay visits to primary schools on Hong Kong Island and help with schools' initiatives in energy efficiency.
Lamma Fun Day
Schoolchildren will experience an interesting and exciting energy journey to the "heart" of the power plant to learn electricity generation process and learn green messages in an interactive manner. "PowerSmart Kids" candidates will be selected in the Fun Day.
Smart Power Workshop
All "PowerSmart Kids" candidates are invited to attend to workshop to compete for the "PowerSmart Kids" title through seminars and interesting games.
Graduation Ceremony
Exploring the multi-intelligence, the PowerSmart Kids will perform a kind of performing art of their choice on stage.
