Selection of Clothes Dryer
- Clothes dryer can be categorised as follows:
Category 1: Air Vent type tumbler dryer with automatic stoppage function.
Category 2: Air Vent type tumbler dryer without automatic stoppage function.
Category 3: Condenser type tumbler dryer with automatic stoppage function.
Category 4: Condenser type tumbler dryer without automatic stoppage function.
- Control philosophy: moisture detection inside the drum or exhaust air temperature measurement.
- Exhaust air temperature becomes higher when the clothes become drier. This method is not as accurate as moisture detection inside the drum.
- Dryers equipped with moisture sensors can provide better energy efficiency and produce less wrinkle.
- Large drum can prevent wrinkle but consumes more energy.
- For small installation space, beware of the direction of door swing and your easy access. Consider a compact unit, a washing machine with dryer function or a stacked washer and dryer model.
- Clothes dryer requires an opening for venting exhaust air. Check the availability of such opening for the duct works.
- Check if the lint filter is easy to reach and clean.
-
The Energy Efficiency Labelling Scheme for clothes dryer adopts the "Grading Type" Energy Label. A Grade 1 Clothes dryer is at least 20% more energy-efficient than "average" Grade 3 Product. Try to choose a clothes dryer with an energy label to save energy.
