Selection of Portable Heater
- There are two types of portable heaters, convection type and radiant type.
- Convection type heaters
This type of heater warms up the surrounding air. Air circulation is achieved by natural convection or forced by a fan. Examples are oil-filled heater and fan heater.
- Fan heater is usually compact in size.
- Oil-filled heater takes a longer time to heat up and cool down. Its heating element is encased and the heater surface normally is safe to touch. Thus, it is safer to children.

Radiant type heater
Radiant heater usually has an electric coil or quartz tube as a heating element that produces infrared light which will be reflected for directional warming. It is commonly installed in a bathroom.
