Kitchen Noise And Air Temperature Reduction After Installing Electric Kitchen Equipment
- The existing kitchen equipment which were not using electricity as energy source of three Chinese restaurants (one in Sai Wan, one in North Point and the other one in Shau Kei Wan) had been replaced by electric kitchen equipment.
- Pre- and post-installation measurements of noise and air temperatures had been done.
- According to the results, the improvement in noise level and air temperature for the kitchens in the three restaurants are tabulated as followed:
|
Max. Reduction in Noise |
Max. Reduction in Temperature |
| Restaurant 1 |
15.3 dBA |
3.5 °C |
| Restaurant 2 |
18.5 dBA |
1.5 °C |
| Restaurant 3 |
15.1 dBA |
*10.0 °C |
Before the replacement, the noise levels of some existing kitchen equipment of the restaurants were high and might lead to exceedance of Action Levels under the Factories & Industrial Undertakings (Noise at Work) Regulation. After the replacement had completed, the noise levels of the electric kitchen equipment of the restaurants were well below the Action Levels.
