Tips on Domestic Electrical Appliances Installation
Before starting the renovation, provisions for the installation of various electrical appliances should be well planned to better utilize the space and avoid causing problems in the future. The following are some tips for your easy reference:
-
Kitchen
-
Electric Cooker
- Make sure that the dimensions of cooking bench matches well with the size of cooker.
- For built-in type cooker, make sure that the opening of the cooking bench, especially the round angle, is cut according to the supplier's information.
- Install a socket outlet with sufficient power near the cooking bench for convenient usage.
- Allow at least 10cm width between induction cooker and its surrounding objects.
-
Cooker Hood
- Reserve appropriate space, about 26-28 inch, between cooker and cooker hood for efficient operation of the cooker hood.
- Make sure that the size of opening in the hanging cabinet matches well with the cooker hood.
- Install a 13A socket outlet near the cooker hood for convenient usage.
-
Sink Heater
- Install power point with sufficient power under the sink for both instant or storage type sink heater to supply hot water all year round.
-
Clothes Dryer
- Reserve adequate space in kitchen while designing the hanging cabinet for mounting clothes dryer on wall to save space.
- Install a 13A socket outlet nearby the position designated for dryer for convenient usage.
- Reserve adequate space for installing exhaust pipe.
-
Bathroom
-
Electric Water Heater
- Install power point with sufficient power near the position designated for electric water heater. 3-phase power is required for instant water heater and 1-phase is adequate for storage electric water heater.
- If one electric water heater is used for both kitchen and bathroom, make sure that the water piping are interconnected between bathroom and kitchen, otherwise separate water heaters are required for each location. Separate power points are therefore required.
