Environmentally-friendly Vehicle
HK Electric has established its corporate goal to care for and improve the environment by adopting new technologies. In 1984, we took the lead in introducing two electrically- powered vans when the development of such kind of vehicles was still in its infancy.
At present, HK Electric has both electric and hybrid type vehicles serving in its daily operations.
Electric vehicle and hybrid vehicle are environmentally-friendly and they are ideal for densely populated area and will help reduce air pollution.

| Speed |
Maximum speed is 110km per hour. Once fully charged, it can run a distance of 120km - 140km. |
| Battery Charge |
As most private car users travel only for short distances and mostly at daytime, the battery then can be charged at night. The charging process for 1 car battery takes only 6 hours. |
| Battery Type |
The car uses Nickel Metal Hydride Battery, which is commonly used for mobile phones. Each car has two packs of batteries - one installed in the front engine compartment, and the other in the rear boot. The battery level is shown in the ampere-hour meter at the instrument panel. |
| Driving |
There is not much difference between driving an electric car and a car with automatic gearing. |
| Cost of Running |
Based on current electricity tariffs, the running cost is less than that of a normal petrol car. |

| Operation |
Powered by petrol-electric with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and an electric motor powered by a 28-module of sealed Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) battery. |
| Environmental Performance |
Hybrid car has a better fuel efficiency and produces less emissions than conventional petrol engine vehicles. |
| Battery Charging |
The batteries are recharged by capturing kinetic energy via re-generative braking, such as during decelerating, downhill driving and when the engine is running, some of the output of the engine is fed to a generator which provides electricity to charge the batteries. |
| Driving |
Driving of hybrid car is similar to conventional petrol-engine vehicle. |
| Cost of Running |
Due to higher fuel efficiency, the running cost is less than that of conventional petrol vehicle. |
